The holiday season brings great joy to many families, but it is also a time to remember those who struggle through this time. Many families still struggle to make ends meet, and gifts for the children and resources for food and shelter are not a given, as they are in so many homes. Each year, SMPD partners with San Mateo Police Activities League, the San Mateo Rotary, business organizations like the Downtown San Mateo Association and San Mateo Chamber of Commerce, and resources like InnVision Shelter Network and Samaritan House to bring cheer to San Mateans in need.
SMPD’s annual tradition of sending forth our very own Santa Cop to our local communities in need provides some relief from holiday stressors and some much needed assistance to make it a little easier for our neighbors make it through their Holiday Season.
“We dedicate ourselves each and every day to your well being and safety, and hope that this holiday season is filled with blessings and good cheer!” – SMPD Chief Susan Manheimer
Each Year, SMPD thanks all of its citywide volunteers involved in Neighborhood Watch by hosting a Neighborhood Watch Holiday Social to thank our partners throughout this City who watch out for each other, report suspicious and criminal activity to us, and help SMPD stop and solve crime.
Spreading cheer in these communities and enhancing important neighborhood safety partnerships with San Mateo Residents is a cooperative effort to keep our streets safe.
Holiday time is also a time for great collaboration with the rest of our City Organization – Many problems are not tied to one single department in the city organization, but require a holistic approach where multiple branches of the organization work together to provide a safe solution through the combined efforts of Engineering, Education, and Enforcement.
With the Holiday Season upon us and in full-swing, the men and women of the San Mateo Police Department want to wish you and your loved ones a very safe and happy holiday season!
